For some time the taurine press has been informing
and commenting positively about the bloodless bullfights that will be presented
in the in the North American city of Las Vegas. Nevertheless the content of the
information has been confusing about the cartels as well as the dates until the
middle of May when Don Bull Productions, the empresa that organizes the
bullfighting program in Las Vegas, issued a press release announcing the
taurine program for September.
The program lists the matadors and rejoneadors who
will be performing in the five scheduled corridas, but it does not list the
brands of the bulls to be fought by them. These are the cartels:

from Mexico; and Julio Benítez “El Cordobés Jr.” from Spain.

The news of having corridas in Nevada has been
exciting for the American aficionados, since they will have a chance to see
first class and popular Spanish Mexican, Colombian, and Portuguese matadors and
rejoneadors performing on American soil. Also, In Spain this new has been
interpreted as a positive sign that the fiesta brava, in spite of its
detractors, is expanding into new territory, even if this expansion proves to
be temporary, and the corridas are not presented in the purest form of the art,
because of insurmountable political motives.
